A quick update regarding the RETS sessions occcuring in Miami this week:
- The new RESO Board had its first in-person meeting yesterday for about five hours, and worked on defining priorities for the coming year and generating an introductory message for the General Assembly.
- I was honored to be elected as the Chair of the RESO Board of Directors and Gregg Petch is the Vice Chair. As Chair, I delivered the Board’s first presentation to the General Assembly this morning. I think it went okay, though I didn’t get as many questions as I thought would be forthcoming. Either I did a good job covering the info, or I lulled everyone back into sleep. Hopefully the former.
- Following my presentation, we had excellent presentations from John Cirincione of the Appraisal Institute and Mark Ladd from the Property Records Industry Association. Following Mark Ladd’s presentation, I asked if they had explored the issue of a universal property ID and he said they had done some work on that front and were very interested in pursuing it further with RESO. This could be a huge opportunity to build a simple integration point, leveraging the power of the web, to tie disparate property records systems (county recorders, MLSs, appraisers, mortgage bankers, etc.).
So, the first day and a half have been good and l’m looking forward to the other days.
