I read the NY Times on-line and try to read as many blogs as I can, but somehow I missed this ActiveRain post by Mitchell Hall and this NY Times article about Prudential Douglas Elliman and the Corcoran Group announcing they were not going to participate in the REBNY/Trulia portal. I wrote about this deal a few weeks ago and said at the time, “the oddities of the NYC real estate practice make changes there a poor predictor of what may happen in the rest of the country.” I guess I was right on but this is still surprising to me. Though listing portals are not MLS systems, they are important and brokers and agents can benefit from them if the leads are sent directly back to them. Anyway, I’m really surprised this didn’t generate more news or coverage, or maybe I need to read even more blogs!
