Mission

FBS, the 40+ year leader in software and solutions focused on real estate Multiple Listing Services (MLS) is seeking a proven leader to head our Product Team. The VP of Product will serve as the product leader to evangelize product strategy and drive thought leadership throughout the organization. This person is responsible for developing and executing on the strategic vision and product roadmap, as well as coaching, growing, and developing a diverse team of thoughtful Product Managers. The VP of Product works directly with the CEO and our customers to define the vision and product roadmap for the entire product line.

 

Outcomes

1. Develop and Articulate a Cohesive Strategy for FBS Product Portfolio

  • Explains the why, directs the what, and is accountable for the delivery
  • Understands the implications of developing technology for the complex MLS space
  • Defines the product portfolio vision and product strategy
  • Creates and maintains a portfolio level view of the product roadmaps
  • Effectively communicates strategy to team members and executives
  • Works with the C-suite to set organizational goals for the product teams and deploy them to the right areas
  • Translates org vision into product strategy, which resonates across product, marketing and sales
  • Communicates the roadmap both internally and externally to customers and other stakeholders, in writing, in person, and in a variety of formats

2. Architect Data-Driven Growth

  • Sustains company customer base and keeps clients happy
  • Launches new features and products consistently and effectively for our customers, and measure success of those launches
  • Collaborates with CEO, Development Leadership, CS/CPR Leadership, VP of Marketing and Sales Leadership to drive results
  • Understands the intricacies of enabling agents to collaborate through the MLS while providing MLS administrators with a competitive advantage
  • Champions longer-term thinking and responsible for major trade offs to achieve strategy and visions

3. Guide Individual Product Strategies

  • Contextualizes a broad company vision to the individual product managers and product director so that they can create a vision and roadmap for the product that is in line with larger goals
  • Establishes priorities for new product development consistent with other priorities for maintaining a high-quality product and requirements for on-boarding new customers
  • Ensures each product solves customer needs in a B2B environment, has well-defined business objectives, and prioritization frameworks
  • Helps PMs identify and foresee value proposition gaps and create short- and long-term product plans to address needs with clear, rational prioritization
  • Advocates for technology advancement, simplification, and streamlining customizations

4. Develop and lead Product Managers and Designers in product discovery, planning, and development

  • Develops current talent into outstanding product managers and UX designers who understand customer needs, market trends, and have solid prioritization and communication skills
  • Champions user needs/problems and is relentless to ensure team is speaking with customers regularly – and making those insights actionable when appropriate
  • Ensures that PMs and designers are supported in furthering a culture of experimentation
  • Directs the creation of processes and brings in tools which enable PMs to make informed decisions about their products
  • Plans, budgets, and recruits for open positions as the team expands

 

Experience & Attributes 

  • Executive experience leading a product team that exemplifies the best product culture of continuous and rapid testing and learning to meet the needs of customers, preferably in an environment that experienced organizational transformation
  • Minimum of 8 years product leadership experience in B2B technology, ideally in real estate or MLS
  • Deep experience owning strategy, roadmaps, and understanding how to rally teams to execute upon a thorough long-term plan
  • Excited by the opportunity to lead a newer product organization to create tools that make a difference for the real estate software industry
  • Ability to span product and technology with a mix of direct oversight and indirect influence
  • Willingness/flexibility to adapt to and shape evolving role over time
  • Inspires customers, team and company through clear, compelling communication of product strategy.
  • Experience  closely collaborating with sales, support, and marketing to understand trends/needs and enable high growth through product development
  • Understands sales, marketing, and financial operations to a high enough level that they can act as top-level advocate for evidence-based cross-functional decision making in the company
  • Passionate with a proven ability to mentor and develop product managers at all phases of their professional journey 
  • Experience desired but not required: 
    • Individual contributor or a leader in change management/functional transformation
    • Working with long-term teams
